Wayne Price met with some high school and middle school students in November in what may be his last presentation to the school. Wayne is a preeminent Tlingit artist and is renowned for his carvings, which include the large dugouts of Hoonah that he considers the pride of the fleet in Southeast.
Wayne's was invited by Jeff Skaflestad, who helped in carving those boats, and shares in the pride of that technical achievement. Wayne shared some videos of his work and history, and shared how important those skills are for students to keep learning and practicing.
He invited the students to help on the required maintenance of the Hoonah dugouts, as well as to the open water, where he promised to meet them with the classic call he made famous.
